Avalon Q: price, profit per day at home
The Avalon Q is a home Bitcoin miner: 90 TH/s on about 1,670 W, quiet enough for a living space, with lower-power modes you can switch to.
It also works as a space heater. Every watt it uses comes out as heat, which offsets some of your heating bill in winter.
- From $1,430
- Earns $3.18/day · breaks even below 7.9¢/kWh

| Option | Hashrate | Power | Price | Revenue/day | Breaks even below | Profit at 12¢ | Profit at 17¢ | Profit at 25¢ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| New Ships from California, usually within the week | 90 TH/s | 1,674 W | $1,430 | $3.18 | 7.9¢/kWh | -$1.64 | -$3.65 | -$6.86 |
| New Ships from Hong Kong, usually 1–2 weeks | 90 TH/s | 1,674 W | $1,460 | $3.18 | 7.9¢/kWh | -$1.64 | -$3.65 | -$6.86 |
12¢, 17¢ and 25¢/kWh are example home rates; 17¢ is close to the US average. Use your own bill's rate. A home miner also turns every watt into heat, which offsets heating you'd otherwise pay for in winter. Revenue is what the hashrate earns per day at current difficulty and coin price; it changes daily. Payback is price divided by today’s profit and ignores future difficulty changes.
Good fit if…
- You want to mine Bitcoin at home without a hosting contract
- You'd use the heat in winter
- You want a quiet machine that runs on household power
Worth knowing
- At full power it draws about 1,670 W, so check your circuit; the lower-power modes suit a standard outlet.
- Profit at home depends on your power rate. See the table for 12¢, 17¢ and 25¢/kWh.
Avalon Q questions
Is the Avalon Q profitable at home?
It depends on your power rate. The table shows profit at three common home rates. In winter, the heat it makes replaces heating you'd pay for anyway.
How loud is it?
Much quieter than a data-center miner, and quieter still in its eco mode. It's designed for living spaces.
Would it be cheaper to host a bigger miner?
Often, yes. An S21 Pro hosted at 7.75¢ usually earns more per dollar. See our guide "Home miner vs hosted S21" on the blog.
